Providing Basement Support for the USAF
Quick supply access keeps pilots from getting grounded.
Attacking Pharmaceutical Clutter Halfway Around the World
Nearly 4,400 miles from its headquarters, Spacesaver’s military storage solutions are making a difference for the United States Air Force (USAF) base in Stuttgart, Germany. With basement storage that had become a cluttered mess, Patch Barrack’s busy pharmacy was experiencing issues with controlling storage and maintaining quick access to the medications and supplies it housed for the base.
Identifying the Enemy
Outdated and inefficient static shelving blocked visibility and failed to provide enough capacity for the growing number of medications needed to be on hand. On top of this, the majority of storage was located in the basement, further lengthening the process of fulfilling residents’ needs.
Calling In Reinforcements
Knowing they could use some backup, base officials contacted Spacesaver’s team of storage experts to assess the situation and provide solutions to keep their staff ready for action.
To best accommodate the limited space of the pharmacy’s basement, our installers removed the existing shelving and cleared the area to make room. From there, they installed new flooring, Spacesaver shelving with butcher block work benches, a FrameWRX® Storage System with standard and bin shelving, and mechanical-assist mobile systems to maximize capacity and organization.
A Swift and Efficient Victory
Knowing time is a crucial factor in the medical field, we were able to perform this update over Martin Luther King weekend to avoid disruption in the base’s pharmacy services. The result was a more organized pharmacy with more than double the storage capacity and two additional work areas for staff.
